Andrew Bird: Soldier On Tour EP

The other day, something of the not-so-often kind happened: I heard a song by Andrew Bird on TV. Alas, Nokia has finally found the solution to the music for their latest ad campaign, and it comes in the form of two words: Andrew Bird. It was only a matter of time before Bird’s music would find its place on the TV ads. If you take a listen, you’ll notice just how much the songs begs for it.

Nokia is one of the leading brands in the world that has never failed to intrigue me with its impeccable execution in their astounding ads. But, the more Nokia ads you watch, the more the ridiculousness of it becomes distinguishable. Regardless of the message they try to convey, regardless of the aesthetic features they put in, regardless of the ingenious concept behind the story, bottom line is, it’s just a phone, right? Nokia has a way of making a phone seem like it’s the best thing that could ever happen to your life, and I keep saying, ‘But, it’s just a phone’.

I think I love Andrew Bird; the music, the vocals, the everything. The Soldier On EP displays another stunning assortment of compositions by Bird; an EP crammed with looped percussions, heart-warming yet arcane tunes, and dazzling pieces of work. I haven’t quite retired from listening to it-- yes, it’s that beautiful of an EP and I highly suggest you get it any way you can, and just take in all the music . If you’re still skeptical, then here’s another three reasons:
